The MIT Technology Review is thrilled to announce that nominations are officially open for the 2026 Innovators Under 35 competition. For over 20 years, this prestigious annual list has celebrated 35 of the brightest young minds in science and technology worldwide. This initiative not only recognizes outstanding talent but also highlights innovative solutions that address pressing global challenges.
Submitting a nomination is a straightforward process, and it’s free. Whether you want to nominate yourself or a colleague, the deadline is set for 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. We seek individuals who are making significant scientific advancements and leveraging their findings to develop new technologies. Candidates who are engineering groundbreaking systems and algorithms that enhance our capabilities or address critical issues such as human health and climate change are particularly desirable. Additionally, those pioneering the future of artificial intelligence or robotics are encouraged to apply.
Successful nominees will demonstrate a clear contribution that transcends their field, serving as the leading force behind their innovative work. We also look for indications that their contributions are gaining substantial recognition. Previous honorees can provide insight into the qualities we value. Remember, nominees must be under 35 years of age as of October 1, 2026. Semifinalists will be notified by early March and invited to complete a detailed application. The final selection of winners will be made by the editorial team at MIT Technology Review, with feedback from a panel of esteemed judges. For more information about the nomination process, feel free to reach out at tr35@technologyreview.com. We eagerly await your nominations and wish all participants the best of luck!
